The Judgment
Dui. Joy brings progress and attainment. Hold firm and correct.
Classical (Legge)Tui intimates that (under its conditions) there will be progress and attainment. (But) it will be advantageous to be firm and correct.
The Image
Lake resting upon lake. Dui. The centered one joins with friends in conversation and common practice.
Classical (Legge)(Two symbols representing the waters of) a marsh, one over the other, form Tui. The superior man, in accordance with this, (encourages) the conversation of friends and (the stimulus of) their (common) practice.
The Changing Lines
Harmonious joy. Good fortune.
Classical (Legge)The (pleasure of) harmonious joy. There will be good fortune.
Joy arising from sincerity. Good fortune. Occasion for regret disappears.
Classical (Legge)The (pleasure arising from inward) sincerity. There will be good fortune. Occasion for repentance will disappear.
He finds his pleasure in coming to others. There will be misfortune.
Classical (Legge)He finds his pleasure in coming (to others). There will be evil.
He deliberates about what to seek his pleasure in, and has not yet found rest. He borders on what would be harmful, yet there will be cause for joy.
Classical (Legge)He is deliberating about what to seek his pleasure in, and has not yet found it. He borders (on what would be) injurious, but there will be cause for joy.
He trusts in one who would harm him. The position is perilous.
Classical (Legge)He trusts in one who would injure him. The position is perilous.
He is led and drawn to pleasure.
